There are items that come and go in our kitchen pantry, and through trial and error the constant remains the same. Being italian, we cook a lot of italian food, so in our pantry there are the basic ingredients to make red or white sauces, toppings for pizza, or other essentials to traditional recipes. Loreto's being a lover of spices and ethinic cuisine, we have plenty of indian and chinese spices and sauces and some mexican staples. My baking shelf has many different flours (gluten-free and non), sugars, chocolates, dried fruits and nuts. We try to go through the items every three to six months, since many of them don't have a long shelf life, we try to buy as fresh as possible and using the ingredients as quick as we can to eliminate waste. We like trying new things, but buying quantities that would suffice sampling and then if we like it we purchase more. We try to buy organic, local and sustainable foods, at Farmers's Markets or at organic food stores, where they sell in bulk and you can buy in weight, reducing packaging and replacing the items more often. We believe that healthy foods create healthy bodies and minds.
