Hazelnut and Vanilla Puff Pastry Mini Croissants, quick and easy to make, they are so delicious that they disappear quickly one after the other. Perfect for breakfast and as a snack, for children and grown-ups.

Hazelnut and Vanilla Puff Pastry Mini Croissants-an easy snack, these "cheater's croissants"

[This post is sponsored by Penotti Canada®. We received compensation in money and product in exchange for a series of original recipes. As always, all opinions are our own.]

I have a sweet tooth, and I love breakfast, so breakfast and snack items are well taken care of on our blog, and these are no exception to the rule.

I try to stay away, most of the times, from store-bought snacks, preferring to make my own and sometimes reproducing at home famous items, like for instance, the pop tarts, definitely a labour of love.  When time is the issue, though, and there are days like that, I do take the shortcut, paying attention, as always, in using products we trust.

These Hazelnut and Vanilla Puff Pastry Mini Croissants are definitely a timesaver, so quick and easy to make, deliciously tasty and still a better option than store-bought snacks. Perfect for breakfast and as a snack, for children and grown-ups. The Duo Penotti® Hazelnut and Vanilla spread is made of premium quality ingredients such as freshly harvested hazelnuts, cocoa, and milk. It is GMO-free, with no colors, no preservatives, no artificial flavors, and made with sustainable ingredients. What's not to like? We loved working with their products and have been so excited to come up with new ways to utilize their amazing spread.

In these Hazelnut and Vanilla Puff Pastry Mini Croissants, their gorgeous spread (which is awesome also eaten by the spoonful, trust me on that, lol!), is nestled in a puff pastry triangle, shaped in a mini croissant.

These are not the real deal of the croissants, that can be time-consuming and where you need some skills to master the refined techniques. They are spectacular "faux" croissants, very tasty, very easy to make, and above all, very fast. Especially for me, and my "urge" to have breakfast as soon as possible after I open my eyes, using the ready-made puff pastry dough let me have delicious croissants in about 30 minutes,  just the time to have the coffee ready and set the breakfast table.

Hazelnut and Vanilla Puff Pastry Mini Croissants-an easy snack, these "cheater's croissants"

Or, when a need for something chocolatey hits you really bad, and you know you have puff pastry in the freezer (who doesn't?), a jar of chocolate spread in the pantry, and no time to waste, all you need is that puff pastry, the Duo Penotti® Hazelnut and Vanilla spread, a ruler, a cutter, and a teaspoon (that you can lick after all the croissants are made).

Hazelnut and Vanilla Puff Pastry Mini Croissants-the hazelnut chocolate tucked in the center of a flaky puff pastry crust

Make the triangles, cut them, cut the base, spoon the spread, roll, and shape. Brush with milk, sprinkle with raw cane sugar, place on a lined baking sheet, and you're at a stone's throw from these Hazelnut and Vanilla Puff Pastry Mini Croissants.

Eat them warm, just out of the oven, when their scent is flooding the kitchen, and they crumble in your mouth leaving you with that oozing surprise of a Hazelnut and Vanilla pocket.

Hazelnut and Vanilla Puff Pastry Mini Croissants-outoftheoven

Thank you, Penotti®, for making wonderful products and allowing us to be creative with them. A special thank you also from my parents, who were delighted to be the taste tester of these adorable and scrumptious Hazelnut and Vanilla Puff Pastry Mini Croissants.  By the look on their faces and the lip-smacking, I take it they really enjoyed them, and believe me, Italian parents can be harsh judges!

Hazelnut and Vanilla Puff Pastry Mini Croissants

The aroma alone will capture you but the flavor of these croissants will have you hooked. The buttery crispiness of the puff pastry marries well with the decadence of the Duo Penotti® Hazelnut Vanilla spread. That rich cocoa and vanilla play on the tongue so joyfully that you will find yourself going back for seconds, thirds and even more. Especially good with a nice cup of espresso!

So, when time is not on your side, and are craving something sweet and delicious, pull out the puff pastry and grab a spoon and some Duo Penotti® spread to create these Hazelnut and Vanilla Puff Pastry Mini Croissants. Then sit back, relax, sip that coffee and truly.....

    Enjoy!

    Description

Quick and easy to make, these Duo Penotti® Hazelnut and Vanilla Puff Pastry Mini Croissants are so delicious that they disappear quickly one after the other. Perfect for breakfast and as a snack, for children and grown-ups.

    Ingredients

    Scale
    • 1 puff pastry sheet (rectangular)
    • Duo Penotti® Hazelnut and Vanilla spread
    • milk, for brushing
    • raw cane sugar, for sprinkling

    Instructions

    1. Gently unroll the puff pastry on a floured work surface, with a ruler and a pastry cutter cut puff pastry in half, then cut each half into four rectangles, then cut each rectangle diagonally into two triangles (making 16 triangles). Cut the center of the base of each triangle.
    2. Place about 1 teaspoon of the Duo Penotti® Hazelnut and Vanilla spread down the center of each triangle.
    3. Widen the cut on the base and starting at the wider end, gently roll each triangle up.
    4. Place each croissant seam-side down so that the tip of the triangle is tucked under the rolled croissant. Then, bend in the edges, creating the croissant shape. Lightly brush tops of croissants with milk and also the tip, so it sticks.
    5. Place the croissants on two baking sheets lined with parchment paper and sprinkle with raw cane sugar.
    6. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C  (350°F) for about 20-25 minutes, or until puffed and golden.

    Notes

I usually bake one baking sheet at a time, but if your oven allows it, you can bake both at the same time.

Hazelnut and Vanilla Puff Pastry Mini Croissants-crispy puff pastry and oozing vanilla chocolate spread

    Post e Ricetta in Italiano

    Description

First of all - thank you for reminding me of Stars. OMG. I was a teenager when I was totally hooked on that song. I bet I can totally eat a jar of that hazelnut vanilla spread listening to good music and day dreaming! I am with you - croissants are a huge labor of love, so the puff pastry shortcut coupled with this delicious spread are the way to go for breakfast. Happy International Women's Day:)

Breakfast for dessert? HOOK ME UP! Croissants are one thing that is on my 'to make' list that I just have not gotten around to yet. If it is like many complex recipes (I assume croissants are a bit complex), it usually takes me a few times to do them without getting mad! LOL. And these little morsels really do look spectacular.
