- Fresh, light, and creamy
- Made with simple ingredients

Ingredient Notes
- Small Cucumbers
English cucumbers work best because they have fewer seeds. Peeling and removing the seeds helps create a smoother, creamier tzatziki. After grating, be sure to squeeze out as much moisture as possible to prevent the sauce from becoming watery. - Greek Yogurt
Thick, plain Greek yogurt is the base of this recipe. Full-fat yogurt gives the richest flavor and texture, but low-fat Greek yogurt also works well. If your yogurt seems thin, let it drain in cheesecloth for 30 minutes. - Fresh Dill
Fresh dill adds the classic bright, herbaceous flavor that makes tzatziki so refreshing. Chop it finely so it blends evenly into the yogurt. Dried dill can work in a pinch, but fresh is best. - White Vinegar
A small amount of white vinegar provides a gentle tang that balances the richness of the yogurt. You could also substitute fresh lemon juice for a slightly brighter flavor. - Salt
Season to taste, adding a little at a time. Since the flavors develop as the tzatziki chills, it's a good idea to taste again before serving and adjust the seasoning if needed. - Optional: garlic, finely grated or minced, and extra virgin olive oil to finish, for the best Mediterranean flavor.

No. Traditional tzatziki is made with Greek yogurt.
Can I make tzatziki ahead of time?
Yes. In fact, it tastes even better after a few hours in the refrigerator.

Yes, but strain it first to remove excess whey.
Is tzatziki healthy?
Yes. It's naturally high in protein, lower in carbohydrates, and made with wholesome ingredients.
For us Tzatziki brings us back to summer, its freshness, the way it just boosts the flavors of anything it is paired with. We have used this sauce on its own with crackers or pita. We love it with our many souvlaki dishes, and it is such a lovely accompaniment to our roasted vegetables and potatoes. Nicoletta who is not a big fan of cucumbers, loves this Tzatziki sauce, and that says a lot. Highly recommend this recipe!
Happy Summer, and enjoy!
